We are delighted to announce that the West Lothian Bike Library is one of several partners in a regional electric bike (e-bike) sharing project in South East Scotland.
The Go e-Bike project has been developed by the South East of Scotland Transport Partnership (SEStran) and Bikeplus, a national charity promoting bike share.
From 13th April the GO e-Bike scheme will see a number of electric bikes, Giant Entour E+2, available for temporary hire to local residents in West Lothian.
E-bikes can be attractive to some who wouldn’t normally consider riding or buying a bike, as they make cycling a little easier – especially hills! By trying e-bikes as part of this project, we hope some people in West Lothian may go on to buy their own bike and build cycling for everyday journeys into their lives.
The West Lothian Bike Library will store the bikes, and coordinate hire of the bikes to residents for a specified time period. Hire periods will run from Friday afternoon to Monday morning, Monday afternoon to Friday morning. Each e-bike loan will cost £25 plus a deposit (paid by card). Two forms of ID will be required. We will support with training and information about the bikes.
If you live in West Lothian and would like to take part in this scheme, please get in touch via our contact page.
